Orthopaedics

Our Physiotherapists are experienced and skilled in assessing and treating injuries, conditions, and disorders of the skeletal system - your muscles, joints and ligaments.

Our goal is to reduce pain as quickly as possible while facilitating the healing process. We know you want to return to your normal level of activity as quickly as possible.

Sports Therapy

We understand the pleasure and health benefits of engaging in sports, and when you are side-lined with an injury, we will work one-on-one with you to get back in the game as quickly as possible.

We have experience with both competitive and recreational athletes of all ages.  We respect the goals that you set for yourself and will work with effective, evidence-based physical therapy to help you achieve them.

We will guide you through the process of getting back to your sport safely, so you don't return to early and risk recurring injuries.

Pre and Post-Surgical Care

We offer pre-operative consultation to help prepatre and strengthen you prior to surgery.

Post-operatively, Physiotherapy is important for you to get the full benefit of your surgery.

We are particularly experienced in working with patients with hip replacement, knee replacement, shoulder replacement, rotator cuff repair, knee and ankle ligament repairs, and spinal surgery.  Our Physiotherapists have also worked in the hospital, so are skilled in getting you moving right after surgery.

We will work as a team with your Physician and Surgeon to help you recover fully after surgery and return to your normal level of activity as quickly as possible.

Neurological Therapy

Our Physiotherapists work to better the lives of people who suffer from a wide range of diseases and conditions impacting the brain, spinal cord and nerves.

We work with you and your health care team to optimize your neurologic function.  This includes treatment to alleviate pain, improve balance and co-ordination, restore range of movement, mobility, and independance.

Physiotherapy is effective in treating patients with conditions such as stroke, migraines, Bell's Palsy, Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and Spinal Cord Injuries.

Exercise Therapy

"Movement is Medicine"!

Almost everyone can benefit from exercise therapy. Specific exercises tailored to your goals may include stretching, strengthening, myofascial release, nerve mobility, posture and balance exercises. Ultimately, the goal for all of our patients is to reduce pain, regain full mobility, strength, stability and balance. This will enable you to perform at your best!  We have a fully equipped gym. We will create a home exercise program for you, complete with pictures and videos.

Manual Therapy

With manual physical therapy, Physiotherapists use their hands to treat soft tissue and mobilize and manipulate joints to decrease pain and increase movement. Our Physiotherapists have extensive training in Manual Therapy and use these tools to treat acute injury or longstanding dysfunction.

Pediatric Therapy

Pediatric physiotherapists have a broad range of skills in order to work with a developing child. At Family Physiotherapy Clinic, we have many years of pediatric experience, and will create a plan for your child which includes your involvement. We work with children with such needs as: muscle and joint dysfunction, neurodevelopmental delay, gross and fine motor delay, sensory issues, balance and co-ordination.  Treatment may include play based skill development, functional activities of daily living, adapted or specialized equipment. Therapy is designed with social, cognitive, communication, motivation and emotional needs in mind.

Vestibular Rehabilitation

Our Physiotherapists have training to identify and treat issues with your vestibular system.  Your complaints may be vertigo (spinning), dizziness, or poor balance.

Vertigo can have various causes.  Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is effectively treated by Canalyth Repositioning Techniques in the clinic.  Ocular (eye), head movement, and balance treatment are all part of a comprehensive treatment program.

Vertigo is very debilitating... Physiotherapy can help!
